The Ease of the Cast: Fly Fishing Without Effort In this casting demonstration you will discover, in an elegant and effortless way, the art of fly fishing and casting. The demonstration is aimed at fly fishers of all experience levels who want to learn how to improve their casting technique with grace and ease. Through targeted movements and the right technique, you cannot only increase your casting distance, but also your accuracy. The basic overhead cast as well as modern one-handed water based flycasts will be demonstrated, covering the key points for a successful execution. |

What can a World Champion caster teach us for everyday fishing? How long-distance casts in a river can create diverse fly presentations – and what we can learn from an experienced competition caster to achieve them. You know that moment when you need just a few extra meters to get the perfect drift… |
Tellis Katsogiannos |
11:30 - 12:00 |
Downstream Dry Fly Fly drag is one of the main problems that fly fishers have to deal with. Among some other solutions, downstream presentation techniques are both very effective and seldom used by the fly fishing community at large. |
Aitor Coterón |
12:00 - 12:30 |
Truths and Myths about Fly Casting – Based on PRACTICAL Fly Casting Physics Based on 45 years of fly fishing, thousands of hours of experimental fly casting and extensive talks with fellow Norwegian, Grunde Løvoll – one of the leading experts of fly casting physics – I would like to present MY WAY of using less force to cast longer and with more precision. |
Mathias Lilleheim |
12:30 - 13:00 |
The “Five Essentials” of Fly Casting We will see many great casters at the EWF’s casting pool. They all have a different casting style. But what are the commonalities that lead to a good cast? |

13:00 - 13:30 |
What Might Happen on the Riverbank when Two Fly Fishermen from Two Generations Share the Italian Casting Technique in a Playful Way? (TLT) Two instructors from SIM Suisse meet at the casting pool and slip into the role of two friends from different generations. One has a lot of experience, the other wants to learn as much as possible. They meet at a "river" and try to share methods for the best possible casts in different fishing situations in an entertaining way. Their aim is to realise the full potential and effectiveness of the Italian casting technique under guidance and to illustrate it to the audience. |
Paolo Rezzonico Simone Cometti |
13:30 - 14:00 |
Fun with a Fly Rod Charles takes us on a journey from the basics of casting to catch fish, to “unusual casts” for even stranger fishing situations… All while traveling through the history of fly fishing and across different countries. He refuses to take fishing (or himself) too seriously and wants to show you just how simple casting can be. A demo full of laughs and lighthearted moments! |
Charles Jardine |
14:00 - 14:30 |
The Same Casts with Different Equipment The various Spey casts can be made with both the double-hand and the single-hand fly rod, whereby in the latter case – by hauling – additional speed can be transferred to the fly line. Rudy van Duijnhoven shows some casts that can be made with both types of equipment and gives tips on how to improve your casting technique. |

The History of Fly Casting We'll accompany Roman through the history of the fly cast. From the very beginning to English and American styles; the Gebetsroither style will, of course, be a part of this informative demonstration. |
Roman Moser |
15:00 - 15:30 |
The Underhand Style and the Philosophy Behind it The effect of leader length, shooting head length, and rod action in the underhand cast that makes it possible to cast with short movements and in various situations. |
Klaus Frimor |
15:30 - 16:00 |
Split Cane Rods – Then and Now I have been a committed fly fisherman and fly tyer since the 80s. Building a split cane rod was a long-cherished wish of mine. Now it has finally come true and I was able to build my own rod with Philipp Sicher. As the proud owner of a self-built rod, I have been studying the history of this craft. To mark the 20th anniversary of the EWF, I would like to refer to the material developments and the associated casting restrictions that the pioneers had to face at the time. How much easier we have it today! With my somewhat different demo at the casting pool, I would like to bring this interesting history closer to the audience. |
Peter Kunz |
16:00 - 16:30 |
Japanese Long Leader & Long Tippet System Tomo shows us how he targets trout in his home waters in Japan using his beautifully crafted fiberglass fly rods and extra-long leaders/tippets. Exotic, different, and super interesting! |
